Riverbank

Editor's Note: This game is easily played outside where you can draw the lines with chalk or a stick -- although, painter's tape might work well inside on a hard floor, or carpet for that matter.

The teacher will group the children into two groups, group 1 and group 2. Then the teacher will draw 2 parallel lines on the ground, the area between the 2 lines will be the river, while the area away from the line will be the bank.

The students will stand on the bank, if the teacher will say river the students will jump on the river and if it is bank they will jump on the bank.

If the teacher will say bank and the student will jump on the river, the opponent group will receive 1 point.

Great game! My children liked it so much. In addition, it can help children remember the use of prepositions on and in. You can also change the setting and the prepositions accordingly.

In the River
by: Anonymous

Kids get really excited when the game goes fast with the leader saying "In the river" and "On the bank" really fast. Trick them up by saying either of the phrases twice in a row! Elementary kids love this game. Great game to pass time when waiting for parents to pick up thier kids.
