Care Package Scavenger Hunt for Troops Overseas

by Kim
(Waterloo IA)

We have about 40 kids in our youth group. We broke into about 8 groups of 5 kids each, each group with an adult leader. Each group had a clip board with the list of items we were "scavenging" for - tuna, mac&cheese, dvd's, batteries, candy, toothpaste, toothbrushes, books, small toys & games, etc. Each group went up and down a different street around the church. We identified who we were and what we were doing. We collected enough to send 16 care packages as well as enough money to pay for the postage! If you don't have a specific soldier to send packages to, check out www.anysoldier.com. Make sure to include a card or note about your church and the youth/community that did this for them!
